Amy

Amy van den Berg works and lives in Johannesburg, where she is practicing full time in her studio as a printmaker. She completed a BFA at Rhodes University in 2009, following that she began her career as a Visual Art teacher at a remedial school. Her personal practice is focused on South African birdlife. From miniature studies of birds, surreal collages, to the massive oversized portraits, “I am driven by the complex details of these beautiful creatures.” She states.

Along with Carmen Ford, she is the co-founder of The Printing Girls established in 2016, an all-female South African group of printmakers. And is represented by Barbara Lindop, in her gallery, Intethe. It is her personal aspiration to create more opportunities for female artists, acknowledge the female talents we have in South Africa.
